This year is the centenary edition of the SCCU 100m time trial. The very first event took place on Saturday 11th July, 1908 and the start time on that occasion was 3.30 am!!!
The inaugural race was called the Syd Gray 100, after the notable SCCU official who had died the previous year in 2007. The race was won by C.Price of the Oval CC, with a time of 6:01:35. The Syd Gray shield was awarded to the Elite CC with a two man team, recording a combined time of 13:02:57.
To celebrate the centenary event, we have massive prize list, not just for the fast sub- 4 hour riders, but for every one involved. The event carries a Scratch, Hadicap, Vets, Team Womens and best improved prizes as well as other special prizes!
The course is based on the A24 and is a reasonably fast course, the course record being 3:50:53, held by Keith Coffey.
The counties 100 is a sociable event and we have a gathering in Dial Post Village Hall floowing the event where maly old friends meed, oten seeing one another onlly once a year!
