 Centenary 100 mile Time Trial Minimize

This year is the centenary edition of the SCCU 100m time trial. The very first event took place on Saturday 11th July, 1908 and the start time on that occasion was 3.30 am!!!

The inaugural race was called the Syd Gray 100, after the notable SCCU official who had died the previous year in 2007. The race was won by C.Price of the Oval CC, with a time of 6:01:35. The Syd Gray shield was awarded to the Elite CC with a two man team, recording a combined time of 13:02:57.

To celebrate the centenary event, we have massive prize list, not just for the fast sub- 4 hour riders, but for every one involved. The event carries a Scratch, Hadicap, Vets, Team Womens and best improved prizes as well as other special prizes!

The course is based on the A24 and is a reasonably fast course, the course record being 3:50:53, held by Keith Coffey.

The  counties 100 is a sociable event and we have a gathering in Dial Post Village Hall floowing the event where maly old friends meed, oten seeing one another onlly once a year!

COURSE G100/59

START on A24 60 yards north of bus shelter in acceleration lane north of West Grinstead crossroads (TQ166229).    Follow A24 via Southwater and Hop Oast RBTxs (roundabouts) to bear LEFT up slip road to Farthings Hill Interchange RBT.    LEFT 1st exit   and follow A264 via Leisure Centre RBT to New Bridge RBT (junction A281).    Straight on 2nd exit to Broadbridge Ind.Est. RBT.   LEFT 1st exit and  continue  on A281   via  Nowhurst RBT to  Clemsfold RBT where TURN (8.31mls) (TQ131335) (CHECK). 3rd exit to retrace on A281 and A264 via Nowhurst and 3 Broadbridge Heath RBTxs to Farthings Hill Interchange RBT.   LEFT 2nd exit to rejoin A24 northbound.   Straight on 2nd exit at Robin Hood RBT to Great Daux RBT.    RIGHT 2nd exit and follow A264 via Rusper Road, Moorhead and Faygate RBFs to Bewbush Manor RBT.    Straight on 2nd exit and follow A2220 via Breezehurst RBT to Broadfield RBT where TURN (18.56mls) (TQ256353) (CHECK). 4th exit to retrace on A2220 to Bewbush Manor RBT.    Straight on 2nd exit and follow A264 via Faygate, Moorhead and Rusper Road RBTxs to Great Daux RBT.    LEFT 1st exit and follow A24 via
Robin Hood RBT to bear LEFT up slip road to Farthings Hill Interchange RBT.    Straight on 2nd exit and rejoin A24.    Continue on A24 via Hop Oast RBT to Southwater RBT (called Pollardshill) where TURN (30.35mls) (TQ162252) (CHECK). 3rd exit to retrace on A24.    REPEAT road section via Clemsfold RBT (37.26mls), Broadfield RBT (47.51 mis) and Southwater RBT (59.30mls).   At Southwater RBT second time straight on 1st exit to traffic lights at West Grinstead crossroads (60.88mls).    LEFT and follow A272 to twin RBVs at Cowfold.   RIGHT 2nd exit at first and LEFT 1st exit at second and continue on A272 to Bolney RBT where TURN (67.42mls) (TQ267224) (CHECK). 3rd exit to retrace to twin RBFs at Cowfold.   LEFT 1st exit at first and follow A281 to North Henfield RBT where TURN (74.91 mis) (TQ215169) (CHECK). 3rd exit to retrace to twin RBT's at Cowfold. Straight on 1st exit at first and LEFT 1st exit at second and follow A272 to West Grinstead crossroads (82.06mls).    LEFT on filter lane to join A24 and proceed south to Ashington Interchange, where LEFT down slip road to mini RBT.   RIGHT 3rd exit under A24 to Billingshurst Road RBT where TURN (TQ133166) (CHECK). 4th exit to retrace and turn LEFT up slip road to rejoin A24 northbound to southern entrance to Dial Post(88.71mls)(TQ153188)(CHECK). Fork LEFT through Dial Post.    LEFT into Swallows Lane.   RIGHT in 1.3 miles and continue to junction with A272 at Green Street.    LEFT (CARE) on to A272 to Coolham.    LEFT on B2139 to Dan Hill crossroads.    LEFT on B2133 to Billingshurst Road RBT.    Second exit towards Ashington Interchange to turn LEFT up slip road to rejoin A24 northbound to southern entrance to Dial Post where LEFT and proceed for approximately 200 yards to FINISH opposite signboard on east side of road (TQ153191).
